Discovering WHO your actual competitors are remains one of the most challenging problems for B2B SaaS companies. While enterprise platforms charge $20,000–$40,000 annually for competitive intelligence, we needed an affordable, production-ready competitor discovery engine that could deliver rich, contextual results in under 30 seconds. This is the story of how we solved it using Evaligo's Agentic Competitors Finder template — going from zero to production in under a day.
We built our platform to help B2B startups monitor competitors, get weekly AI briefings, and auto-generate battlecards — all at a fraction of what enterprise tools charge. One of the most critical features our users need is discovering who their competitors actually are. Not just the obvious ones, but the close matches, partial overlaps, and emerging players they might be missing.
When a user signs up and enters their company domain (e.g. clientcues.com), we need to instantly find 5–10 relevant competitors with rich context: company name, domain, logo, a description of what they do, WHY they are a competitor (match reason), how closely they compete (direct competitor, close match, or partial overlap), and a numerical similarity score from 1–10.
Building this from scratch would require web scraping infrastructure, LLM prompt chains, data extraction pipelines, and significant engineering effort. We needed a production-ready solution that could handle this in under 30 seconds.
Evaligo's Agentic Competitors Finder template emerged as the perfect solution. Unlike traditional competitive intelligence tools that rely on static databases, Evaligo's agentic approach actually visits and analyzes competitor websites in real-time, understanding their product positioning through AI-powered content analysis.
The template extracts competitor information from websites and analyzes the competitive landscape using AI. It scrapes web content, processes the data, and generates comprehensive competitor insights including market positioning, strengths, and differentiation opportunities. Perfect for marketers, business strategists, and product managers conducting competitive research.
The integration process was remarkably straightforward: we simply call Evaligo's flow execution API with the company domain as input, and Evaligo's autonomous workflow handles everything — scraping the company's website, understanding product positioning through natural language processing, searching for competitors across multiple data sources, analyzing each competitor's website for detailed context, calculating similarity scores, and returning structured JSON data ready for immediate use.
On the backend (Python/Flask), the integration required minimal code. We call Evaligo's execute_flow API endpoint with the user's company domain, poll every 3 seconds with a 120-second timeout, and receive structured JSON responses containing an array of competitor objects with comprehensive metadata. We normalize the data, check for already-tracked competitors, and return polished results to the frontend.
The flow consistently returns results in 15–25 seconds, making the user experience feel nearly instantaneous. Each competitor object includes rich structured data that would have taken weeks to build from scratch.
On the frontend (React), we display animated progress steps while the Evaligo flow runs in the background — showing users messages like "Searching online...", "Analyzing competitors...", and "Scoring results..." to maintain engagement during the brief wait.
Once results arrive, each competitor is rendered as a polished card displaying the company logo, name, domain, description, and the match reason in italic text explaining the competitive relationship. A color-coded tier badge (green for "Direct Competitor", yellow for "Close Match", gray for "Partial Overlap") provides instant visual classification.
The star of the show is the prominent numerical match score displayed on each card with a mini progress bar — users can immediately see which competitors matter most. They can select which competitors to track using checkboxes and add them to their monitoring dashboard with a single click, creating a seamless experience that feels polished and professional.
The impact has been transformative for our platform. What used to require hours of manual research now takes 15–25 seconds. Results are highly relevant because Evaligo's agentic approach actually visits and analyzes websites rather than relying on potentially outdated static databases or simple keyword matching.
The similarity scoring helps users prioritize which competitors matter most to their specific business, allowing them to focus monitoring efforts where they'll have the greatest impact. While we maintain a GPT-based fallback for edge cases, Evaligo's results are significantly richer with detailed descriptions, contextual match reasons, and sophisticated scoring.
The key differentiator of Evaligo's approach is the agentic AI architecture. Instead of simple prompt-response patterns, autonomous agents handle complex multi-step workflows — including web navigation, content analysis, competitive comparison, and data structuring — all within a single flow execution.
This delivers results that would traditionally require significant engineering resources and ongoing maintenance. For B2B startups building competitive intelligence features, product comparison tools, or market analysis capabilities, this approach offers a compelling alternative to building from scratch or paying enterprise prices.
Our experience shows that with the right automation tools, startups can deliver enterprise-quality competitive intelligence at a fraction of the cost, making sophisticated market analysis accessible to companies of all sizes.
If you're building a product that needs competitor discovery, market analysis, or competitive landscape mapping, we highly recommend trying Evaligo's Agentic Competitors Finder template. You can start in 15 seconds, customize it to your needs through Evaligo's visual workflow builder, and deploy it as a production API endpoint.
